Gun Dog Training
At Featherhorn Kennels we utilize a wide variety of hands-on highly successful training methods. We offer owner involved training to help you succeed in creating the ideal and well mannered family pet. If your goal is to have the next master hunter retreving champion or an AKC pointing breed champion, our trainers are equipped to help you and your dog reach the fullest potential. With years of handling various types of breeds our trainers can perform the very basics of obedience training up to the most advanced levels of in-depth training and everything in between.

Retrevier Training
This training involves taking basic retrieve commands, force fetching, retreving bumpers/birds, retreving from land and water, exposure to gunfire, etc. The goal for this training is for the dog to take commands from a handler in the field to mark, retrevive birds and deliver to hand on both land and water.

Obedience Training
Obedience training involves teaching your dog to be a well mannered pet for your family to enjoy. This is achevied by teaching basic commands such as; sit, here, heel, kennel, etc. The goal for obedience training is for the dog to receive and take basic commands for a dog in the home, and give the owner a level of control when the dog interacts with the family, public or other dogs. This training is typically a 6 week program.

Birddog Training
This training involves the basics of training a pointing dog to hunt and point game birds such as quail and pheasant. The goal for birddog training is to have the dog taking commands from a handler in the field hunting, pointing, retrieving and delivering birds to hand in the field.

Dog Boarding
If you are traveling and need a place for your dog to stay during your trip we also offer boarding services. We provide your dog with individualized accommodations in our kennels which are cleaned regularly and offer shelter from the elements.
